High-Power UHF ATSC Tube Transmitter
The Sigma® CD series of high-power UHF DTV transmitters utilizes inductive output tube (IOT) technology to deliver high efficiency and superior cost performance for ATSC broadcasters. Each Sigma CD system includes a control cabinet and one to four power amplifier (PA) cabinets. The control cabinet houses the system controller, exciter, monitoring and control panel/graphical user interface (GUI) and an optional second exciter.
An upgrade is now available for the Sigma CD transmitters that will allow them to provide IP-based control and monitoring by using the Harris® eCDi® performance monitoring system, either tied to the station LAN or directly to the Internet.
Solid-State UHF ATSC Transmitter
The Diamond CD® transmitter line features LDMOS, solid-state technology and provides a new level of UHF reliability for ATSC broadcasters. Each Diamond CD system includes a control cabinet and one to five power amplifier (PA) cabinets. The control cabinet houses the system controller, exciter, monitoring and control panel/graphical user interface (GUI), driver amplifier and an optional second exciter and driver with automatic changeover.
An upgrade allows Diamond CD transmitters to provide IP-based control and monitoring via the Harris® eCDi® system, either tied to the station LAN or directly to the Internet.

Diverse Options for RF Installations
Harris Outdoor Transmission Enclosures offer a reliable and cost-effective method for broadcasters to deploy transmission systems. This application has become crucial for an array of broadcasters exploring new locations typically not used for terrestrial broadcast services, from high-power broadcasters adding repeater sites to effectively blanket their markets to low-power and mobile broadcasters who rely on shared sites or single-frequency networks with multiple transmitters.
Harris custom-built Outdoor Enclosures, constructed of steel or aluminum, offer a cost-effective and technically-sound alternative for broadcasting from non-traditional locations. Pre-built enclosures vastly reduce the square footage in comparison to traditional structures. Installation costs are also minimized: Enclosures are transported to the site and can be placed onto a small concrete foundation or other suitable structure.
From a system standpoint, a Harris Outdoor Enclosure also offers everything required to support terrestrial transmission. This includes heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and electrical systems, the transmitter and associated hardware, filtering and antenna systems. Quality enclosures also implement design characteristics that meet the most pertinent industry standards for construction and equipment protection, ensuring that the broadcaster’s investment in technology is secure.

Distributed Transmission and Mobile Network Adapter
The Harris® Synchrony™ XA distributed transmission and mobile network adapter performs a variety of functions that enable ISDB-Tb, DVB and CTTB broadcasters to efficiently expand their main channel and mobile digital broadcast services. It enables the creation of distributed transmission systems (DTS) in which multiple transmitters operate on the same frequency to improve coverage. Additionally, Synchrony XA seamlessly brings together main channel HD and SD, mobile audio/video streams and supporting content data into a complete service multiplex.
A single unit can be configured as a DTS adapter, mobile multiplexer or both. The broadcast studio requires only one Synchrony XA to address several vital concerns for broadcasters — expanding digital coverage to reach new markets, filling coverage gaps created by digital coverage patterns and taking advantage of the opportunities afforded by mobile video and data-casting.
Low-Power UHF Transmitter/Transposer/Gap Filler
The Maxiva™ UAX Compact Class family of UHF solid-state transmitters, transposers/translators and gap fillers builds on the proven foundation of Harris low-power systems and Harris® PowerSmart® technology. It provides today’s digital broadcaster with a suite of compatible products to accomodate any coverage application, along with unmatched performance, reliability and quality. The Maxiva UAX Compact Class extends the capabilities of the Maxiva series, providing one family of transmitters capable of satisfying any coverage architecture. The Maxiva UAX Compact Class provides pre-filter power levels from 5 to 50 W in a compact, space-saving 2RU package.
Designed for digital broadcasting, the Maxiva UAX Compact Class is a platform available in transmitter, transposer or SFN gap filler configurations for DVB-T/H, DVB-T2, ATSC, ATSC-MDTV, ISDB-Tb, CMMB and CTTB networks. The Compact Class is ideal for extending market coverage and filling in coverage gaps in challenging situations, including busy urban areas that require greater building penetration.
The Compact Class transmitters maintain the Apex M2X™ technology platform, providing broadcasters the highest level of performance and allowing fast setup time with Real Time Adaptive Correction (RTAC™). The shared modulation approach provides a common interface for Maxiva users, reducing training requirements.
The Compact Class transposers/translators provide efficient and reliable re-broadcast of the received signal in a small and robust package. Low-power HTEL systems utilize a single cabinet to house the Apex M2X™ exciter, control system and amplifiers. Medium-power systems use a control cabinet and one or two power amplifier cabinets.
